Fiemme Rollerski Cup on Saturday 14th and Sunday 15th September in Trentino
Interview with Ragnar Bragvin Andresen, leader of the FIS Roller Skiing World Cup together with Gustafsson
On Saturday in Ziano, on Sunday on Alpe Cermis for the Cermis Final Climb, roller skiing, a real passion
Matteo Tanel is third in the overall standings and will try to win the title in Val di Fiemme

A Norwegian versus a Swede. Between Ragnar Bragvin Andresen and Victor Gustafsson there will not be the heated competition that involved Petter Northug and Calle Halfvarsson in cross-country skiing ("If Halfvarsson wins the Cup, I'll retire" said Northug), but they will fight against each other on Saturday 14th and Sunday 15th September in Val di Fiemme on the occasion of the Fiemme Rollerski Cup. The Italian Matteo Tanel is third in the FIS Roller Skiing World Cup standings, after an amazing season on roller skis this year.
The two Scandinavians are leading the overall standings with the same points, but the Norwegian seems to be the favourite for the World Cup title. Andresen’s passion for roller skiing came by chance: "I grew up in Sarpsborg, one hour from Oslo. In the past years, we didn't have artificial snow, and today we still have difficulties because of the warm winters. Roller skiing was born as a natural consequence of my sporting career, since I was a little child”. Then he reduced the training load because of work: “In December 2017 I started to work on the development of skis and roller skis in China, but I've always done my best to stay in shape even if I'm no longer a full-time professional athlete”.
The results of this summer have been amazing and now Ragnar is ready to face the last two stages of the Roller Skiing World Cup between Ziano di Fiemme and Alpe Cermis: "I certainly prefer the first stage, I have really good memories, especially when I won the team sprint in the 2015 World Championships (ahead of Noeckler and Pellegrino – ed.) with my great friend Marius Caspersen Falla. On Alpe Cermis I struggle more, and the climbs in classical technique are not my thing because of my back problems".
The Norwegian, who has been five times world champion (2011 sprint, 2013, 2015 and 2017 team sprint, 2019 sprint), will race against Victor Gustafsson after a great battle that lasted the whole season: "Winning so many times was incredible for me – continues Andresen – I will do my best also because it will probably be my last chance because of my work commitments. I won't retire, but it will be difficult to take part in all the stages of the next seasons".
Not far behind the two leaders there is Matteo Tanel, who will be an additional opponent for the two Scandinavians: "Tanel impressed me – concludes Andresen – he was in the leading group in many different races. I was also surprised when he won in Ziano last year, but now he doesn't surprise me anymore, he's strong and he has a good chance of winning the title".
