VAL DI FIEMME: RUSSIA VS ITALY 2-2

A RUSSIAN-ITALIAN WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP

News data:18.09.2021

Yesterday second day of FIS Roller Ski World Championship in Val di Fiemme (Trentino, IT)
Italian flag waving thanks to Emanuele Becchis and Sabrina Borettaz
Russians answer back with Makarov and Letucheva both gold
Today Team Sprint, on Sunday the final Mass Start to Cermis

Tanel’s gold and Artusi’s silver were not enough: the Italian team got other two gold FIS Roller Ski World Championships medals yesterday in Ziano di Fiemme. Yet, Russians did not waste any time tiding it thanks to Olga Letucheva and Pavel Makarov and silver with Dmitriy Voronin and Ekaterina Popova.
Exciting Sprint race, intense and framed by a big audience along the 200 meters track in Via Nazionale. Emanuele Becchis flies in 17’’91 against Voronin (18’’43), anticipating what the final game would have been.
Therefore, it was. The two got easy through qualifications, until the hard final race. Tarmac was flying under the fast pushing poles. Becchis won, he strongly wanted this success.
Letucheva ruled over the everlasting Soemskar, as hungry as ever of victories. Among junior, Sabrina Borettaz (ITA) made it clear: she is here! She had already won in Banska Bystrica (Slovakia) and yesterday she doubled it with a world championship gold medal, very important for her and for the team as well. Second place for the Russian Ekaterina Popova and bronze for Samanta Krampe (LAT), leader of the World Cup.
Among junior men, Russia succeeded thanks to Pavel Makarov, winning over Ludwig Berg (SWE).
Today is Team Sprint time, while on Sunday Mass Start to Cermis takes place. Wondering another match Russia vs Italy is now possible: Tanel holding a ‘Kalashnikov’ on his own against the big four Russians: Bolshunov, Spitsov, Chervotkin and Terentev. If Bolshunov were not to be there, Dementiev might be able to say something, as he had already tamed Cermis.
