Everything is ready. This weekend lights turn on for the final act of the Roller Skiing World Cup, with perhaps the most eagerly awaited event of the entire circuit: the final in Val di Fiemme, which will award the trophies for the general ranking and the new Sprint ranking.
The most important news is the presence of the Italian “big squad” composed of no less than 43 athletes (17 women and 26 men) who, between Friday 8th and Sunday 10th, will give their best to collect the largest number of medals in the Mass Start FT, Sprint FT and Uphill Mass Start “Cermis Final Climb CT.
Leading the large group will be the athletes of the national “A” team: Tommaso Dellagiacoma and Matteo Tanel, “duelling” for the general Cup, Emanuele Becchis, with victory almost in his hand in the Sprint ranking, Michele Valerio, currently fourth in the general and second in the Sprint ranking, and also Jacopo Giardina and Riccardo Lorenzo Masiero. Among the female World Cup team there will be Elisa Sordello, currently fifth in the Overall, Laura Mortagna and Sabrina Borettaz.
The Italian athletes in Val di Fiemme will be followed by the TD Michel Rainer, the head coach Emanuele Sbabo, the technicians Marco Sala, Tommaso Tamburro, Anna Rosa and Denis Armellin, the physiotherapists Antonio Ruggiero and Lisa Cosi, and the doctor Andrea Pedemonte.
Between Ziano di Fiemme and Cermis 16 nations will compete: Estonia, Germany, Greece, Italy, Kazakhstan, Latvia, Lichtenstein, Norway, Romania, Slovenia, Switzerland, Slovakia, Sweden, Taipei, Kenya and Ukraine. For the spectators it will be a show not to miss, starting on Friday at 3 pm with the Mass Start 10 and 15 km, Saturday the Sprint in the centre of Ziano with the finals scheduled at 5.15 pm, while Sunday at 9.30am the incredible emotions of the Uphill Mass Start “Cermis Final Climb” will be experienced.
Enthusiasm is also rising for the promotional race Fiemme Rollerski Cup - Cermis Final Climb, a 13 km Mass Start CT that follows the same route as the World Cup “bigs” along the road leading to the intermediate station Doss dei Laresi of the Alpe Cermis, where every year the Tour de Ski cross-country skiers put on a show.
